Ocean Freedom x Cape Cobra Trail: Protecting the Runners Who Protect the Mountain

We are stoked to announce that Ocean Freedom is teaming up with Cape Cobra Trail for the 2026 race on 24 October.

Why Cape Cobra

Cape Cobra is a "wildly beautiful, relentlessly tough" 42km marathon and 21km half that wind through seven iconic wine farms, climb across Table Mountain and finish at a festival in the heart of Cape Town. Routes that are inaccessible any other day of the year. Ancient footpaths. Climbs that burn. Descents that bite.

It's the kind of event we love being part of built by a crew (Ryan, Jesse, Ashraf and Sean) who clearly care more about the trail community than they do about the spotlight, and grounded in a real conservation ethos through the SANParks Honorary Rangers badge initiative.

Inclusivity is the heartbeat of Cape Cobra. That's a heartbeat we share.

Why It Makes Sense

Trail runners are exactly the kind of people Ocean Freedom was built for, out for hours, deep in the elements, where a sunscreen has to actually work. No greasy slip on sweaty foreheads. No stinging eyes on the descents. No chemical residue washing into the fynbos and rivers of Table Mountain National Park.

Just clean, mineral, zinc-based protection that stays on for the long climbs and earns its place in your race kit.

Cape Cobra protects the mountain. Ocean Freedom protects the runners on it. The fit is honest.

What the Partnership Looks Like

Over the build-up to 24 October, you can expect to see Ocean Freedom showing up across the Cape Cobra journey:

  • On the start line — protecting runners before they hit the trail

  • At the Finish Line Festival — alongside the ice baths, massage and live bands

  • Behind the scenes — supporting the athletes and crews who make this race what it is

  • In our content — sharing the stories of the runners, the route, and the wild Cape ground we all love

Two South African Brands. One Mountain. Same Mission.

Ocean Freedom is a woman-owned, proudly South African mineral sunscreen brand built around a simple belief: the people who spend the most time outdoors deserve protection that respects their bodies and the environment they play in.

Cape Cobra is a homegrown trail event built on the same foundation, fierce love for the land, the community and the wild experience of moving through it.
