Heritage Day is an opportunity to celebrate South Africa’s people, landscapes and shared connection to the outdoors. On 24 September 2026 Torpedo SwimRun marked the day with a multi-stage swim and trail-running event at Plaisir Wine Estate in Franschhoek.

Adventure for Every Age
Torpedo SwimRun Plaisir offered three race formats designed for different ages and levels of experience.
The Long Course covered 12 kilometres with five dam swims and six running sections. The Short Course covered 6 kilometres with three swims and four running sections. Younger participants could take on the 2.55-kilometre Kids Course with a 250-metre swim and two running sections.
The combination of dam swimming, vineyard trails and mountain views offered participants a distinctive SwimRun experience in the Banhoek Valley.
Protection for Outdoor Sport
SwimRun demands continuous movement between water and land. Participants face prolonged exposure to changing outdoor conditions while swimming and running across open terrain.
Ocean Freedom products are developed for active people who spend time in the sun and water. Our Mineral Zinc Surf Clay and Sun Sticks are very water-resistant for more than 80 minutes and designed for the demands of endurance sport.
As the event’s product partner Ocean Freedom was proud to stand alongside athletes choosing to spend Heritage Day outdoors.
Celebrating Natural Heritage
The event also supported the Banhoek Conservancy. R100 from each entry was allocated to its work protecting indigenous biodiversity, removing invasive vegetation, supporting conservation employment and restoring water flow into tributaries of the Berg River.
This connection between outdoor recreation and environmental responsibility gave the event added meaning. Protecting the places where we swim, run, surf and explore is a shared responsibility.
