I recently completed the Cape Epic mountain bike race in the Western Cape of South Africa. It was an 8 day event with exceptionally high temperatures and UV ratings. As a 54 year old, with fair skin and a long history of terrible sun burns, I was very concerned with how I was going to manage the effects of being outside all day while sweating and being exposed to the sun.
